Congratulations!!!

Congratulations to Mrs. Everson. She had baby Brooks on September 1^, 2010. Mrs. Cooper will be taking her position until she returns in November.

 

Congratulations to Mrs. Rahim!!! Ms. Bartley was married over fall break and returned to school as Mrs. Rahim!

What is going on in First Grade…

First grade has had an awesome first few months of school. Our students are becoming great readers and writers. We have been working on retelling stories. The story elements that we are focusing on are the characters, setting, problem and solution. Students have also been working on retelling the events of a story in order. In math we have been counting money up to 30 cents. We are also working on trading equal amounts of money. Students should practice counting money at home. Students should also practice addition facts nightly. In social studies we have been talking about landforms and we will begin learning about the 7 continents. Thanks for making sure that your child was at school on time during the Cogat Testing!

Whats going on in First Grade…

First grade is off to a great start! We are exploring numbers in math.  We are learning different ways to show numbers 0-30.  We will also be working on adding numbers together and breaking numbers apart.  In writing we are exploring books and creating our own books just like real authors. In reading we are learning about strategies that good readers use and parts of a book. In science we have been discussing weather and how it affects our lives. We are very excited about the new school year and look forward to a FUN, FANTASTIC, FIRST GRADE YEAR!
